Polo Pony’s and Skiffs

Southern hospitality is often talked about but until you see it in it’s purest form you want the world to turn back to when there was a respect and pace that was good for the soul. Mary and I traveled to Fairhope Alabama to sponsor the Polo at the Point event that brought back all the old traditions for a 2 day event.
Friday night we went to a BBQ and Chicken Drop (if you want to know what a chicken drop is call me at 772-567-8835) and had our line of Dragonfly Skiffs and kayaks on display. Great attention on the skiffs and the Fly Fisher had them all talking.
Sunday brought blue skies and cool temperatures in a beautiful setting at the Sonny Hill Polo Club. With our line of Dragonfly skiffs and kayaks displayed at ground level surrounding a tent serving great food and wines where else would you want to be. Now I am a “newbie” at the polo game but I have to say after sitting with experienced polo players like Kenny Mclean , I really enjoyed watching the game. But while the game was on so was the interest level in our skiffs and kayaks and Mary and I answered questions from the time we set up to the time we left.
Final score at the match Iberia bank 10 Dragonfly boats 8. Although we lost the match we won the friendship of many people and look forward to building some skiffs and kayaks for them.
If you get a chance to visit Point Clear you won’t be disappointed, you will go back in time to a gentler place.
Special thanks to Kenny Mclean, Charlie Mclean, Jimbo and Lynn Meador, Winston Groom, King and Dace Stubbs (they supplied the event with Bonterra Wines, an all organic wine that is great)
